Job Description


Key Responsibilities:Coffee and Beverage Preparation:

  • Prepare and serve a wide variety of coffee-based beverages, such as espresso, cappuccino, latte, americano, and specialty drinks.
  • Brew coffee and tea, maintaining consistency in flavor and quality.
  • Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other caf equipment.
  • Ensure beverages are prepared to order, following recipes, and ensuring correct temperatures and presentations.
Customer Service:
  • Greet customers warmly, take drink orders, and provide recommendations based on customer preferences.
  • Interact with customers in a friendly and efficient manner, ensuring a positive caf experience.
  • Address customer concerns or complaints politely and professionally, ensuring satisfaction.
  • Upsell additional products such as pastries, snacks, and seasonal items when appropriate.
Cash Handling:
  • Take orders and process payments using the cash register or point of sale (POS) system.
  • Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and ensure proper cash handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate order records and receipts for customers.
Barista Station Maintenance:
  • Keep the coffee station, equipment, and seating areas clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Regularly clean espresso machines, grinders, milk frothers, and other coffee-making equipment to ensure hygiene and functionality.
  • Refill and organize the supply of coffee beans, syrups, milk, and other ingredients.
Inventory Management:
  • Assist with monitoring stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies.
  • Notify the supervisor or manager when stock levels are low or when items need to be reordered.
  • Ensure the proper rotation of inventory to avoid waste or spoilage.
Quality Control:
  • Ensure all coffee drinks are of the highest quality in terms of flavor, consistency, and presentation.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the coffee equipment to avoid contamination or machine malfunctions.
  • Monitor the freshness of ingredients (such as milk and coffee beans) and ensure they are used within their best before dates.
Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other team members, including servers, cooks, and managers, to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
  • Support other areas of the caf as needed, especially during busy periods.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new baristas or staff members.
Health & Safety Compliance:
  • Follow food safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Ensure that all equipment and utensils are regularly cleaned and sanitized according to caf health regulations.
  • Wear proper uniform and adhere to hygiene standards.
Maintain a Positive Environment:
  • Create a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere for customers through friendly interactions and attention to detail.
  • Stay positive and energetic, especially during busy or high-pressure times.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized caf environment, including restocking and clearing tables as needed.
