An F&B captain, or food and beverage captain, is responsible for providing customer service, supervising the service team, and ensuring the outlet is set up for service. Some of their responsibilities include:
• Customer service : Greeting guests, explaining menu items, offering recommendations, and addressing complaints
• Service team supervision : Training and supervising the service team
• Menu knowledge : Acquiring knowledge of the food and beverage menu
• Supply planning and control : Planning and controlling supplies, and ensuring minimum wastage, breakage, and spoilage
• Up-selling : Using up-selling techniques to increase revenue
• Guest satisfaction : Promoting and ensuring guest satisfaction
• Work environment : Maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment
• Product quality : Ensuring only the highest quality products are being served
