Position Title: Bakery Commis 3

Reports To: Head Baker / Pastry Chef / Bakery Supervisor
Position Summary: The Bakery Commis 3 is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in the preparation and production of bakery items, ensuring adherence to recipes, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization. This role requires a passion for baking, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Preparation and Production:
• Assist in the preparation of doughs, batters, fillings, and icings according to established recipes and production standards.
• Measure and mix ingredients accurately to ensure consistency and quality.
• Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, proofers, and sheeters under supervision.
• Baking and Finishing:
• Assist in baking various products including breads, pastries, cakes, and cookies.
• Help in decorating and finishing baked goods as per the required presentation standards.
• Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure products are baked to perfection.
• Quality Control:
• Inspect products for quality and presentation, reporting any issues to senior bakers or supervisors.
• Ensure that all bakery items are properly labeled and stored.
• Cleaning and Maintenance:
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Assist in regular maintenance and cleaning of bakery equipment.
• Team Support:
• Work collaboratively with the bakery team to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Assist in receiving and storing deliveries of ingredients and supplies.
• Participate in training sessions and ongoing learning to improve baking skills and knowledge.
• Customer Service:
• Occasionally assist in customer service areas, such as packaging baked goods for sale and answering customer inquiries about products.
Qualifications:
• Basic understanding of baking techniques and ingredients.
• Previous experience in a bakery or culinary setting is a plus but not required.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and perform repetitive tasks.
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent. Culinary or baking courses are an advantage.
Working Conditions:
• This position involves working in a fast-paced bakery environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and flour dust.
• Requires standing for extended periods and handling hot equipment and sharp tools.
Career Path:
• Opportunities for advancement to Commis 2, Commis 1, and higher positions within the bakery department with experience and demonstrated skills.

Pay: ?15,000.00 - ?18,000.00 per month
