Backup Engineer
:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backup Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backup and recovery solutions, with a specific focus on Rubrik and Azure Backup. As a Backup Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backup and recovery solutions to ensure the availability and integrity of our critical data and systems.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, Implement, and Maintain Backup and Recovery Solutions:
Collaborate with IT architects and system administrators to design comprehensive backup and recovery solutions that meet the specific needs of the organization.
Implement and configure Rubrik and Azure Backup to ensure that data across on-premises and cloud environments is backed up securely and efficiently.
Continuously assess the backup architecture and make improvements or adjustments to enhance reliability and performance.
2. Collaboration with IT Teams:
Work closely with various IT teams and business units to understand their data protection requirements. This includes identifying critical data, backup frequency, retention policies, and recovery time objectives (RTOs).
Provide expert guidance to different departments to help them align their practices with best backup and recovery strategies.
3. Perform Data Backups and Ensure Data Integrity:
Execute regular data backups according to established schedules. This includes conducting full, incremental, and differential backups as required.
Implement data integrity checks to confirm that backed-up data remains consistent and uncorrupted.
4. Monitor and Optimize Backup Systems:
Continuously monitor backup and recovery systems, analyzing system logs and performance data to ensure they are operating efficiently.
Proactively identify and address issues, such as backup failures or storage capacity constraints, to maintain a high level of availability and reliability.
5. Troubleshoot and Provide Timely Resolution:
Act as the primary point of contact for resolving backup and recovery escalations. This includes diagnosing problems, determining root causes, and implementing solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and data loss.
Maintain a well-documented record of incidents, solutions, and preventive measures.
6. Document Backup and Recovery Procedures:
Create detailed documentation of backup and recovery procedures, configurations, and best practices. This documentation serves as a resource for the IT team and is essential for training new personnel.
Regularly update the documentation to reflect any changes in the backup and recovery infrastructure.
7. Disaster Recovery Testing:
Develop and execute disaster recovery plans and procedures to ensure the organization\'s ability to recover critical systems and data in the event of a catastrophe.
Conduct periodic tests and simulations of disaster recovery scenarios to validate the effectiveness of the plans and make necessary adjustments.
8. Stay Current with Industry Best Practices:
Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to backup and recovery.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies or methodologies that can enhance the organization\'s backup and recovery capabilities.


Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing backup and recovery solutions, with a focus on Rubrik and Azure Backup.
Strong knowledge of cloud-based backup solutions, particularly within the Azure ecosystem.
Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies, including full, incremental, and differential backups.
Proficiency in scripting and automation to streamline backup processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or Rubrik Certified Professional, are a plus.
