What you'll do


As a Senior Information Technology Solution Architect in the Cloud and Information Services Division at SAS, you will help transform our existing architecture to new public cloud architecture with a focus on Azure. You will join a team that works closely with our internal and external customers to meet evolving business and technical requirements as we reshape our infrastructure as a highly optimized, secure, scalable, performant, reliable, and resilient architecture. This will require you to perform a range of activities as you design, implement, maintain, and continuously automate a large cloud-based computing environment. In addition, you will provide technical guidance to team members and, when called upon, serve as a technical liaison between internal departments. The ideal candidate is passionate about new technologies and keeps current with trends in the cloud platform and infrastructure space, while always searching for ways to improve our architecture as technology evolves.

You will

• Design, maintain, document, and implement Azure cloud solutions/services, focusing on IaaS for hosted customers.
• Interface with internal and external customers to understand business and technical requirements.
• Assess complex technical and business requirements and take ownership of projects with minimal guidance.
• Utilize your intellectual, communication, and technical skills to diagnose issues and provide solutions to our users working within our public cloud infrastructure.
• Build security into every aspect of your design.
• Utilize a diverse set of systems administration and programming skills to build and manage automated systems.
• Exercise your ability to adapt and react to complex issues in a timely manner as our business needs and objectives evolve.
• Reduce technical debt by creating automation for day-to-day operations.
• Drive deep architectural discussions in a collaborative fashion to ensure solutions are designed for successful, automated deployment in the cloud.
• Mentor other members of the team to expand skills across the group.
• Provide an escalation point for our operations and core OS teams for complex issues.
• Work hand in hand with vendors to design solutions using best practices.
• Work in collaboration with Professional and Consulting service teams to design customer solutions.
• Work with our overseas teams as needed.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.
• To engage with Pre-Sales, Sales, and SAS support teams to understand key customer requirements.
• To provide overall delivery support for the hosting environment, including direct support for hosting customer escalations and as a member of the hosting on-call support team.
• To work with the Compliance team for audit evidence, CIS benchmarks, and other compliance requirements for our regulated hosting environments
• To work with Azure APIs for automation/integration of standard, supported services
• To improve our service catalog/service offerings

What we're looking for

• You're curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
• You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, or equivalent work experience.
• Public Cloud expertise with at least
+ 5+ years of experience in designing and architecting enterprise solutions/services.
+ 2+ years of experience with an industry leading public cloud provider or equivalent certification.
+ 2+ years of experience in consulting.
+ 2+ years of experience in Linux.
+ 1+ year of experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes.

• In-depth experience in all major aspects of Information Technology (servers/compute, network, storage).
• Experience in deploying and managing containerized services.
• Development experience in a major scripting or compiled programming languages.
• Experience using source control solutions like GitHub or GitLab.


The nice to haves

• Azure Solutions Architect Expert or other Azure related certifications.
• Experience with large-scale, multi-platform enterprise systems.
• Familiarity with automation through interaction with remote APIs (REST).
• Experience with Linux and/or Windows Server Technologies.
• Experience with LDAP, ADFS, SAML, or other Identity and Access Management Solutions.
• Experience with on-prem hypervisor technologies.
• Experience with WAN technologies and how they interact with public cloud solutions.
• Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
