: Role Description

Control Management (CM) is a first line of defense function that ensures the businesses we support maintain a strong and consistent control environment. Within Asset Management, Control Managers are assigned to each business, function and region, where comprehensive coverage and joint accountability with business executives promotes early operational risk identification and assessment, effective design and evaluation of controls and sustainable solutions to mitigate operational risk.

The AM Control Management organization is searching for a strong candidate for its central programs function. This role has frequent global interaction across Business & Control Management. The candidate will serve as the Control & Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) Program Lead for Asset Management; ensuring AM businesses are meeting all firmwide / LOB program requirements. The role will work in close partnership with Control Officers and Operations teams, Compliance, Internal Audit, the respective Regulators, and senior management to ensure clear stakeholder communications, accurate and complete data quality, process / procedural improvements, compliance with requirements, and end-to-end improvements within the corporate framework. The successful candidate must have a strong risk and control mindset, program management experience and strong interest in the Firm's Asset Management businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Global CORE SME / Program Manager for Asset Management
  • Support the Issue Management end-to-end process (reporting, escalations, validation)
  • Assist in the monthly AM Business Control Committee (BCC) end-to-end production
  • Engage with AM Business Managers and Control Managers, as necessary.
  • Interface with Compliance & Audit for internal and regulatory exams
  • Manage key senior leadership risk & control metrics, including BCM and SLT updates
  • Drive reporting solutions through the Risk and Control Data Reservoir (RCDR)
  • Close and remediate regulator examinations, findings & matters requiring attention (MRAs)
  • Analyze data and synthesize trending for senior management
  • Identify gaps & solutions at the Risk Assessment Structure (RAS) 2 level for AM
  • Coordinate calibration sessions across common processes, risks and controls for AM
  • Drive the Quarterly Business Review with the Asset Management (AM) CEO
  • Support agenda and lead bi-weekly updates for AM Business Control Managers (BCMs)
  • Own strategic projects in line with BCM agenda (including Diversity & Inclusion across AM)
  • Help design and communicate necessary system enhancements to projects and technology
  • Contribute to team's overall book of work, as necessary.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years controls management, business management, management consulting, risk, compliance or equivalent experience in financial industry
  • Strong communication and project management skills; experience driving complex projects to a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration, partnership, and influencing skills - ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and achieve goals without direct control over resources
  • Flexible, with the ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Knowledge / experience within the asset management industry - products and services offered, distribution channels and asset classes (liquidity, fixed income, derivatives and investment platforms), preferred
  • Creative problem-solving skills - ability to approach an issue / initiative with an innovative yet pragmatic, commercially reasonable approach to achieve desired outcomes
  • Possess a sense of urgency and resourcefulness with strong ability to anticipate issues and a passion for driving best practices
  • Careful attention to detail, with keen ability to quality check own work and the work of others
  • Ability to directly address / identify conflict and obstacles and escalate as appropriate
  • Experience managing Risk & Control Self-Assessments a strong plus
  • Bachelor's degree required
