Job Summary:The Associate Professor of Microbiology will be responsible for teaching, research, and service activities within the Department of Microbiology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiological sciences, with a proven track record in teaching, research, and scholarly contributions. The role involves the development and delivery of undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting innovative research, and contributing to the academic and administrative functions of the department. Key Responsibilities:Teaching:

• Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses in microbiology, including lectures, laboratory sessions, and seminars.
• Mentor and advise students on academic, research, and career development.
• Participate in curriculum design, evaluation, and revision to ensure the relevance and quality of microbiology programs.

Research:

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in areas of microbiology, such as microbial pathogenesis, environmental microbiology, or microbial genetics.
• Publish research findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Secure external research funding through grant applications and other funding mechanisms.
• Supervise and guide graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in their research endeavors.

Service:

• Actively participate in departmental, college, and university committees and activities.
• Contribute to community outreach and public engagement activities related to microbiology.
• Collaborate with other faculty members and departments on interdisciplinary research projects.

Leadership and Administration:

• Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and strategic plans.
• Participate in student recruitment, retention, and program assessment efforts.
• Provide leadership in the development of new research initiatives and collaborations within and outside the institution.

Qualifications:Education:

• Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

Experience:

• Demonstrated success in teaching and research, typically evidenced by several years of relevant academic or research experience.
• A strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and a history of successful grant funding.

Skills:

• Deep expertise in microbiology, with specific knowledge in specialized areas such as virology, bacteriology, or microbial ecology.
• Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment.
