The Associate Producer is the key owner and liaison through all functional areas of project management and engages in projects through content planning, content creation, author management/relations, production, rights and permissions, customer acceptance, and archive. The Associate Producer executes the delivery of all assigned program components and project tasks over the entire program lifecycle (initiate, plan, build, execute, control, release). The Associate Producer is accountable for delivering high-quality, commercially successful print and/or digital programs on time and within budget.
High-Level Responsibilities
The Associate Producer is the key owner and liaison through all functional areas of project management from content planning through customer acceptance and archive.
Manage the execution of content development and production plans for Science textbooks, supplements, and eBooks to deliver high-quality, commercially successful print and digital project families on time and within budget.
Manages a select number of print and/or digital projects including print texts, e-texts, supplements, and covers. Assignments may range from low to high in complexity.
Manages author relationships and hires/manages other content creators, monitors rights and permissions, and works with content providers to remediate rights issues, and resolves editorial questions during content creation and production as needed. May review text, e-text, and covers during production as needed.
Manage multiple vendors and subject matter experts, providing feedback as necessary.
Communicate project status and dependencies to appropriate team members, including the Managing Producer.
Proactively utilizes and applies knowledge of editorial process, print/digital product workflows, and production processes, and ensures standards/requirements.
Work with other parts of the organization as necessary to ensure support in attaining output, quality, and productivity.
Ensure that appropriate content structure, enrichment standards, and other compliance standards, e.g. accessibility are applied throughout the content development and production process.
Use web-based tools for project tracking.

Resolves questions and problems and independently analyzes more complex issues. Escalates critical issues to appropriate constituents and/or direct manager.

Financial management skills, forecasting, and decision-making (project budgets and expense monitoring).

Qualifications
Master\'s Degree
2-4 years of project management experience
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Acrobat, Editorial and Indexing programs, Illustrator, Photoshop
Experience with Acrobat Pro and XML a plus; excellent organizational and communications skills
A publishing background is strongly preferred
Basic understanding of rights and permissions process
Experience working with onshore and offshore vendors is a significant plus
Experience with the transition from print to digital publishing is a significant plus
Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working in an "evergreen" publishing model, and with scrum and agile methodologies
