This position is located in the Imaging/Mechanical/Polymer/Analytical/CCI/Transport group in DDCS. You will have the responsibility processing and analyzing 2D and 3D imaging data collected by a large variety of microscopic, X-ray CT, and 3D scanner instruments. In addition, the engineer is also responsible for implementing IT solutions for data transfer from remotes sites, digital imaging delivery to customers, as well as developing and maintaining the image database to ensure data/image searchability and retrieveability.

Work with DDCS image laboratory personnel to apply appropriate and technically sound image processing and analysis methodologies. Clearly communicate relevant product design features and dimensional data acquired from the images to DDCS engineers, management, and appropriate business partners Develop and effectively maintain the data/image database, data/image sharing tools, and other IT facilities needed to enable the remote collaboration with DDCS engineers globally. Interact with third parties as needed for external collaboration on the related subject matters, when needed. Stays abreast of relevant new and current technologies, capabilities, and regulatory expectations, guidelines, and requirements; effectively share this knowledge with others; and identify opportunities for implementation. Ensures individual and departmental compliance with the laws, regulations, guidelines, procedures, and practices governing drug research and development, including the departmental and corporate standard operating, good manufacturing, and safety procedures. Ensure that people and their environment are safe and that company policies concerning safety are followed. Enhance Lillys professional image and competitive advantage through patents, presentations, publications and professional activities.

  • A minimum of a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related fields with a minimum of 3 years of experience
3D image manipulation, accurate segmentation, surface extraction, filtering methods, visualization methods. Reverse engineering, taking 3D meshes from scans and producing 3D CAD models. Metrology applications using 3D mesh files, such as datum alignment, dimensioning, scan to CAD deviation mapping. Experience working with Volume Graphics software. Other practical metrology experience e.g. with CMM desirable. Strong skills in working with X-ray CT metrology software such as Volume Graphics and/or Geomagic highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated quality mindset, ability to influence and provide project leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work productively in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Successful interaction with senior technical engineering and scientific personnel.
