Basic Purpose The Associate Counsel, India is responsible for providing legal support as a junior member of the India Department.The position reports to one or more of the Legal Counsels at Head Office and is primarily focused on managing Legal matters connected with Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and other functions as allocated.The incumbent is expected to bring a business orientation and focus on problem solving, while upholding strong ethics and integrity across the organization. The Associate Counsel, India is charged with providing high quality and responsive legal support and guidance to the relevant functions or factories as part of the Legal team establishing collaborative relationships with colleagues for effective business partnering manage litigation through external legal resources within budgets as directed by the Legal Counsel and highlight and manage risk in areas supported. Under the guidance of Mondel z International\'s legal leader or counsel, you deliver on our legal strategy, activities, and service delivery model in a legal specialist and generalist area of focus. You use your ability to work independently, your in-depth knowledge, and significant experience in a specialty area to apply legal knowledge in the practice area and propose legal solutions and alternatives to in-house counsel. Principal Accountabilities Provide legal support and risk evaluation to relevant functions or factories, through contract risk management ensuring appropriate protection of intellectual property identification and interpretation of applicable laws and regulations policy interpretation, development and training litigation and support for customer claims negotiate and managing external legal fees within agreed budgets provide legal support for major projects in the relevant factory as delegated by Counsel and manage the Factory Stakeholder maps Establish a culture of compliance throughout the relevant factory through all forms of advice, communication, role modelling and training and includes: overseeing corporate governance and compliance with law and policy policy interpretation, development and training Implementing effective compliance training programs for policies owned by the Legal function Participate in and contribute to the Global Legal department\'s knowledge management and productivity-building initiatives as agreed with the Counsel on an annual basis Robust knowledge of local law and regulations Understanding and experience of digital Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey legal advice and documentation in a commercially sound and relevant manner Sound judgment and business sense Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of managers across a wide variety of business disciplines Strong customer focus, yet have the ability to give independent advice Knowledge of domestic and international FMCG/Foods industry, competitors and regulatory environment Ability to manage numerous matters and competing priorities and to work within a matrix set up Bias for execution Key Values : While all Mondelez Values are important, the following would be very critical for this role Act like owners Walk-the-talk / Lead by example Take hard calls and decide what is right for the business Focus on outcome over activity Question the status quo / Encourage experimentation Always act like this is our business and treat the company\'s money as our own Be proud custodians and take the stewardship of our brands and people seriously Keep it simple Focus on the core issue Make our decisions and actions clear Break complexity into steps to success Remove organizational noise and distraction Don\'t let perfect get in the way of better Discuss, Decide and Deliver Get to the heart of the issue Be fully present during discussions Promises made, promises kept Align on the issue before coming to a conclusion Discuss with the right people before you decide Make decisions and back each other Decide quickly and keep the business moving forward What you will bring A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career with experience and knowledge in: Legal experience, ideally in a large matrixed multinational company Working independently and coping with stressful situations and deadlines. Excellent problem-solving, project management, and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Technology and Systems Savvy ability to operate and manage systems and technologies relevant to particular job Candidate Experience Profile Education : Postgraduate degree in Law from a recognized University Experience : At least 5 years Post Qualification experience as an in-house legal advisor in a large corporation with multiple locations and manufacturing facilities. Experience in FMCG or Food companies preferred.
