The Team
Nasdaq's Legal, Regulatory & Risk group is looking for a talented and energetic IP/Patent Attorney with great communication skills and the ability to explain, clarify and simplify complex technical information. To ensure Nasdaq's continued commercial success, the candidate should have excellent legal, technical and scientific knowledge with a keen interest in protecting Nasdaq's intellectual property.
Your role and responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of senior legal team members, a typical day will include:• Provide protection of Nasdaq's intellectual property by
• providing legal advice and assistance on all matters relating to invention management and preparing patent applications on inventions.
• providing legal advice on other valuable intellectual property rights such as data, trade secrets, licenses, copyrights and trademarks.
• Keep up to date and provide guidance on legislations and regulations around intellectual property that impact Nasdaq products and services.
• Conduct legal, technical and scientific research and gather evidence, incl. explain, clarify and simplify complex technical information.
• Provide protection of Nasdaq's intellectual property by enforcing statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations.
• Monitor research and development activities for the identification of inventions and potential external claims for compensation.
• Provide IP legal guidance and support to internal businesses and operations around the world, including licensing, technology and commercial legal advice.
You will need the following skills and experience• Law Degree (e.g., in the U.S., the Juris Doctor degree)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
• Passed the Patent Law Bar (i.e. registered Patent Attorney preferably US or EPO)
• At least 8+ years' experience, preferably at a top law firm and/or in-house
• Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent assets, developing patent strategies and conducting associated patent analysis, due diligence, transactions and licensing.
• Highly knowledgeable on technical, scientific and legal aspects of intellectual property.
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
• Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
• Natural leader who displays sound judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of other disciplines across multiple regions
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and clients
And it would be great if you have experience with• Understanding of the legal and business aspects of software patents, trademarks, open source, software and/or technology products and services
• Experience drafting and negotiating contracts for complex commercial transactions
• The ability to analyze complex contracts and effectively communicate with internal clients
• Knowledge of data privacy/data security
