Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Strategy

• Create and communicate a global vision of strategic Indian partner excellence in order to secure business goals and ensuring industry leadership. Inspire team to action consistent with vision. Establish high standards and stretch goals for the organization. Remove barriers to outstanding performance. Hold team accountable for successful completion of projects/ tasks.
• Understands the organization's strategic objectives and aligning external partner management strategies to support those objectives.
• Develops and maintains strong collaborative relationships with external partners to achieve shared goals and objectives.
• Establish long range strategic India partnering business plans which anticipate global trends, technical, economic and socio-political conditions and provide support for project/business strategy.
• Define and communicate strategic imperatives to project success. Develop strategic plans that incorporate regional and global business practices and customer needs.
• Design and drive appropriate governance mechanisms to ensure on-time delivery and at the required quality level with optimal resources.
• Design and refine partnership and operating models to optimize cost and efficiency.
• Partner selection and onboarding : identifying, selecting and onboarding of external partners that meet the organization's need and expectations.
• Excellent internal stakeholder management : continues to listen to the internal customer needs and expectations and assure customer satisfaction for external partner management.


Management & Budget

• Provide leadership to team members. Guide them in terms of finance, prioritization, problem resolution, process clarification, referrals to appropriate experts etc.
• Demonstrate professional excellence and at the highest level, qualities of a leader, through personal example, commitment to the entire organizational team and guidance staff
• Develop effective program milestones, schedules, and budgets for all externalized R&D activities, including capital. Employ state-of-the-art project management tools to manage those project schedules and budgets against milestones; review and apply best-demonstrated practices, team processes, and improve operational efficiency. Identify and resolve issues that may jeopardize project schedules or improve project time. Seek regular input and feedback from customers and take appropriate action when necessary.
• Works with the internal functional/technical leaders to establish excellent team collaboration with the external partner resources.

Expertise and Innovation

• Ensure development of state-of-the-art technical expertise and functional specialties at our Strategic Indian Partners, deployed effectively
• Create innovative processes/products/methods to pilot finance and FTE allocation for our strategic Indian partners through feedback and needs from SPE? organization
• Generate innovative solutions to complex problems through use of multiple disciplines and technical principles
• Build professional network both internally within Global Business Verticals and outside of Baxter
• Proactively prioritize and balance utilization of resources allocated to project at our Strategic Indian Partners; identify opportunities to cross-train, back-fill. Develop recommendations for outside resources as required for the team/project; present internal vs external; resources analysis
• Manage the strategic Indian Partners to the responsibilities outlines in the contract and statement of work
• Drive the interface between GLOBAL BUSINESS UNITs and the Strategic Indian Partners (business need, FTE envelope, budget, Metrics, problem solving)
+ Implement metrics to measure the budget and FTE allocation for our strategic Indian partners, as well as understanding core operations and management variables and calculations in order to ensuring the partner is effectively delivering services.

• Operational Activities at Baxter's Partner sites


Define, drive and implement all contractual activities to manage our strategic Indian partners (e.g. manage them to the responsibilities outlined in the contract and statement of work, be responsible for authoring contract documents, including service level exhibits, statements of work, control and regulate partner performance while striving to be a partner's most valuable customer) Understand and effectively communicate across Global Business Verticals about the external Partner management strategy, competitive forces, influencing projects, and how this strategy fits into the function's strategic focus/plan. Ensure that the team objectives align with key corporate strategic programs. Accountable for successfully meeting agreed upon milestones for key corporate projects Identify and develop relevant core technical competencies that meet current and future needs of the division. Ensure the development of human and technical resources needed to meet long term objectives of the division. Expand areas of competence in order to fit with the organization's needs Understand the financial rationale for "make vs buy" decisions and extrapolating internal and external partner costs to develop this analysis Implement metrics to measure the budget and FTE allocation for our strategic Indian partners, as well as understanding core operations and management variables and calculations in order to ensuring the partner is effectively delivering services Identify global improvements of global systems in analytical areas Select, retain and develop team that includes more senior level technical contributors. Define and communicate criteria by which team and individual success will be measured. Provide constructive feedback and recognition. Successfully coach, mentor and motivate others for outstanding performance, including areas such as, innovation, trade secrets, patents and publications Direct team members to effectively transfer technology/ product knowledge from concept to implementation to our strategic partners Drive and lead team of experts from proof of concept to implementation of new processes/ new projects at strategic partners through a strong and well-recognized leadership behavior Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality system regulations and other regulatory requirements related to research and development (product development, design and safety) to ensure compliance in all research, data collection and reporting activities Proactively identify major risks related to our partners, develop contingency plans and escalate to senior leadership governance for final decision Propose and implement any positive change to improve productivity, motivation, data handling etc Be recognized internally and externally as a Key Leader in partnering strategy, able to present strategic plan for Baxter at senior leadership audience and drive for decision Build a professional network both internally within the business unit, across GLOBAL BUSINESS UNITs and outside of Baxter Manage commercial activities of partner engagement including facilitating approval of SOWs, releasing Purchase orders, validating time sheets, receiving invoices for payment and preparing spend dash boards.

• Reference Standard Management Leadership
• Develop long term strategy for Baxter's Reference Standard program.
• ROI analysis and provide guidance on developing in-house portfolio vs buy decisions.
• Ensure compliance to quality and regulatory requirements for the Reference standards.
• Identify opportunities and drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• Operational management of Reference Standards team & delivery of standards.

Qualification:

• Must possess strong knowledge of scientific disciplines and solid knowledge of related disciplines
• Must possess strong knowledge of quality and general business systems
• Must demonstrate strategic leadership and proficient supervisory skills, including empowerment of people
• Must demonstrate strong ability to communicate effectively

• Ability to design and implement projects/ studies outside area of expertise
• Engineering or equivalent - At least, 10 years of experience
• Understanding of R&D Environment - Excellent knowledge of GMP requirements - String project management skills - Demonstrated leadership skills - Excellent interpersonal skills - Stress resistant - Fluency in English (written & spoken) - People management skills - Inclusion & Diversity.
• Project Management - Maintenance/Engineering (Metrology & Qualification is an asset) - EHS - FM - Logistics.

Education and/or Experience.

• B.Tech / B.E in related engineering discipline ( Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Computer Science), with minimum 18 yrs OR M.Tech /ME with 15 or PhD with 12 yrs of relevant experience
• Min 5 yrs technical management experience including cross functional teams, resource and budget management and strategic development experience
• Experience with outsourced R&D / Engineering engagement business models.

Your Team & Location:


Reporting directly to Senior Director - PMO, you will be based out of Baxter's Bangalore R&D location. Your team will comprise of 10 members, across EPM and Reference Standards program.
