PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Drive coding (to include external providers) quality, productivity and accuracy through performance measures and monitoring.
  • Responsible for developing the coding and auditing team from scratch.
  • Mentor and develop the managers and lead.
  • Train coders on client specifics
  • Responsible to train risk adjustment coding fresh coding trainees (India and US)
  • Should be available to train, audit, and code for any new project.
  • Involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.
  • Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority.
  • Responsible for profit and loss of the department
  • Execution and implementation of new and existing project
  • Vendor Education: Lead interventions to address quality concerns relating to Provider and Vendor clinical pose and distribute education materials to physician and vendors to aid the collection of complete and accurate member profile documentation
  • Production Coding: Manage a team of internal coder / clinicians that perform Risk Adjustment coding of medical records. Track production coding results and monitor accuracy of coding.
  • Engagement with vendors to review results and remediate compliance
  • Oversight: Oversee staff devoted to ongoing updates / policy modifications distributed by CMS.
  • Responsible for managing the coding functions for all value-based care services (HCC coding and HEDIS Reviews).
  • The coding manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and educating coding staff and other departments to ensure coding quality and timely reimbursement.
  • Attend US client calls in the evening.
  • Establishes and monitors the quality of the departments aligned with coding to support accurate patient information, compliant coding aligned with billing regulations and minimized corrections and re-work.
  • Educate and train coding staff, acts as a professional subject matter expert and mentor to the staff.
  • Establish and oversee KPIs for Risk Adjustment Coding Review functions.
  • Assists in the department budget and identifies and recommends opportunities to decrease cost and improve services.
  • Keeps abreast of new technology in coding and coding guidelines, stays informed about future issues impacting the coding functions, and acts as a liaison for other departments regarding coding questions.
  • Review medical record information to identify all appropriate coding based on CMS HCC model.
  • Manage the coding workflow for efficiency.
  • Handles special projects as requested by leadership.
  • Participate in audits of coded data to validate documentation support services rendered for reimbursement and reporting purposes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data systems and reporting for health record coding
  • Vendor management - Hire and train coding, responsible for vendor performance
  • Responsible for hire and fire employees
  • Consistently demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in work product by meeting or exceeding productivity standards and maintaining a company standard of accuracy.
  • Flexible working few hours in the evening/night shift for client calls and other business needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in any life science Licenses/Certifications: CPC/COC/CRC/CCS/CIC
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving ability regarding barriers to receiving and validating accurate HCC information.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective leadership to departmental personnel.
  • 8+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in HCC coding
  • 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in managing coding team.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience that includes conducting coaching/training of coding staff.
  • Risk Adjustment and/or HEDIS experience preferred.
  • Experience interfacing with a wide variety of departments and levels across a matrix organization; experience presenting to groups as well as experience collaborating closely with senior leadership.
  • CMS Risk Adjustment subject matter expertise
  • Proficient with Excel or similar data analysis and data manipulation application
  • Proven solid written and verbal communication skills; must be comfortable preparing executive-level materials and presenting ideas to senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to lead without authority and influence others to achieve enterprise results.
  • Proven ability to manage at a macro level and dig deep into issues for successful resolution.
  • Expert skills in Microsoft excel and developing reports
  • Expert in Microsoft presentation skills
  • Candidates are required to pass a background verification test before beginning employment
