Role Description
In this role, you will be handling India, USA, Europe, South East Asia and other region's Legal matters and you will be responsible for a variety of general corporate law and commercial legal / advisory work as well as regulatory/compliance matters for the company's operations. In this role you will need to advise and interface regularly with the relevant business teams and other support functions, including Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Engineering, Finance, Admin and HR. In this role you will be reviewing information and data, researching laws, regulations, and precedents, and preparing recommendations, contracts or documents. Key Responsibilities • Contracting, Drafting and Negotiations: Review, draft and negotiate agreements and documents relating to regulatory matters and transactions involving the organization entities.
• Advice and counsel on a wide range of legal issues. Such advice and counsel involve identification of legal issues, analysis of legal risks and creation and implementation of solutions structured to achieve business objectives efficiently with minimum legal and practical risk.
• Monitor and research (changes in) laws.
• Drive and support legal Due Diligence during subsequent fund raising.
• Review and update legal precedents.
• Act as a key contact to local authorities and governmental bodies and keep effective relations with them.
• Lias with the CS and other external consultants for overall statutory complainces
• Acting as a overall custodian of various compliances applicable as per the company jurisdiction of operation
• Play an active role on the Government & Public Affairs by helping the business navigate through relevant government policy and regulatory issues, actively monitoring the policy/legislative landscape, advocacy and engagement of key government and business stakeholders
• Support and provide legal assistance as may be required by other functions of the organization including brand protection, information security and general compliance.
• Focus areas for this role include laws relating to corporate governance, general corporate, commercial, business, consumer protection, antitrust and fair competition, trade, e-commerce, foreign investment and dispute resolution in India.
• Providing legal support on the registration, use and exploitation of new and existing trade marks
• Prepare & file documents required to file overdue / other cases, work closely with legal counsel to represent the cases before respective authority.
Education Qualification:
Bachelors or master's degree in law or local equivalent + Company Secretary (Preferred) in any of the States in India.
Professional Experience:
Minimum 6+ years post qualification in general business, corporate and commercial laws
Skills Required
Well versed with Companies Act requirement for India and US corporate laws and governance
Expert knowledge on contract law and should have demonstrated 3-4 exp in negotiation legal contracts with marquee enterprise customer
Knowledge of global litigations with regards to breach of contract laws, default in payouts etc
Shd hv filed and managed patents & trademarks as per rules applicable in US and various countries of operation of Locus
Shd hv worked on transition document like SHA, IRA for negotiation during Series C , B fundraises from global marquee investors
Exp of working in SaaS /IT in US domicil B2B startup is mandatory
Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, establish priorities and solve problems.
Should be able to exercise sound judgment and discretion to opine on legal issues effectively.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively with the business teams and cross functional teams across geographies.
Must possess strong prioritization skills; must be creative problem solver
Flexibility, ability to adapt to needs of growing and changing environment
Demonstrated time management, project management, attention to detail and workload management skills.
