The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services.

Who you will work with


This position is based in BCN's Gurgaon office and is a vital part of the Data and Insights Consumer Products Benchmarking Centre of Expertise (CP BCoE). The Consumer Products Benchmarking team, part of the Data & Insights Industries CoE, plays a critical role in advancing Bain's expertise in the consumer products sector. Our team is responsible for building and maintaining comprehensive databases that capture key industry benchmarks and performance metrics. These data assets empower Bain's consultants to deliver unparalleled insights and drive value for clients in the consumer products industry. By staying ahead of industry trends and leveraging advanced data analytics, the Consumer Products Benchmarking team supports Bain's commitment to delivering top-tier strategic guidance to its clients. Over time, we have developed seamless solutions and utilize powerful, dynamic visualizations and charts on various platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to showcase our results. A key arm of the team is also involved in creating critical intellectual property (IP) that is valuable for new CPG cases globally at Bain.


As an Associate in the Consumer Products Benchmarking team within Data & Insights Industries, you will play a key role in driving the "Emerging Data Assets" workstream. You will work closely within the team to conceptualize, build, and scale up comprehensive benchmarking data-assets backed by collecting, collating, and analyzing live case data as well as co-developing Bain's global IP solutions/insights to pave way for benchmarking at later stages. The role would involve liaising closely with CP Practice/case-team(s) to identify the correct data sources, identifying and marketing the most accurate use-cases of the solution as well as delivering high-quality insights for more ad-hoc/pilot engagements. Additionally, you will guide and mentor analysts, providing direction and support to enhance team productivity and contribute to the overall success of the Consumer Products Benchmarking initiatives.

About you

• Graduate (preferably with degree in engineering / science / commerce / business / economics) with at least 2-5 years of relevant experience or an MBA/Post-Graduate with high academic records.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to lead the team towards pragmatic solutions
• Experience of data analysis, project management and team management
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a team set up
• Effective communication skills and ability and deliver clear and professional presentations to senior stakeholders (Bain managers, partners, and clients)
• Exposure to building intellectual proprietary based research reports backed by strong primary and secondary research skills
• Effective coaching and mentoring skills
• Hands-on on various analytical and reporting / visualization tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Alteryx any experience with LLM/AI tools would be a bonus

What you'll do

• Lead the development and maintenance of benchmarking data assets by coordinating efforts with the help of 1-2 directly aligned team members (analysts) and ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
• Guide analysts on best practices and methodologies for benchmarking, ensuring consistency and quality in data collection and reporting
• Provide mentorship and hands-on support to analysts in data analysis and other ad-hoc work engagement
• Stay up-to-date with the latest consumer products industry trends and incorporate these insights into the benchmarking/ insights creation processes
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality benchmarking outputs by managing workflows and team efforts
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions align with overall business objectives and industry trends
• Able to quickly come up to speed on different businesses and perform research and analysis across geographies and industries
• Effectively communicate with BCN / end clients and deliver client ready documents containing implementable solutions
• Collaborate with Bain case teams globally and work under direct guidance of senior leadership, to identify client-specific trends, validate assumptions, and ensure recommendations are aligned with industry benchmarks and best practices
• Identify and use relevant analytical tools and internal repositories to extract data and analyze information.
