Job Summary:


The biologist will play a key role in the White-Winged Wood Duck Recovery Project , contributing


to research, monitoring, and management efforts aimed at the conservation of White-winged


Duck populations and their habitats in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The biologist will


work closely with a multidisciplinary team to conduct field surveys, collect biological data,


analyse findings, and implement conservation strategies to promote the long-term survival of


White-winged Duck species.


Ideal candidate must be comfortable in working both independently and collaboratively and


is expected to be flexible to work irregular hours, if required including weekends and


holidays, and travel to remote field sites for extended periods.

Qualifications


1. Post-graduate in Zoology, Wildlife Science, or allied branches of life sciences.


2. At least 1-2 years of professional experience in biodiversity survey preferably in wetland


ecosystems focused on avian species.


3. Strong knowledge of avian species biology, ecology, and conservation principles.


4. Good communication and writing skills in Assamese (preferable), Hindi, and English.


5. Experience in working in close association with government and non-government


stakeholders, especially local communities. (Desired)

Key Responsibilities


1. Conduct field survey and monitoring of White-winged Duck populations and habitats


in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.


2. Conduct preliminary analysis of field data, using statistical methods and/or GIS


software.


3. Implement conservation plans and/or management strategies to mitigate threats to


White-winged Duck populations.


4. Liaison with local stakeholders to raise awareness on White-winged Duck


conservation issues and promote community-based conservation initiatives.


5. Provide training and technical support to field staff, volunteers, and community


members involved in White-winged Duck conservation activities.
