We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role: Assistant Vice President, FC Fraud Risk GSC\xe2\x80\x99s

  • The Compliance function is a Second line of defence (LOD) function, responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s businesses (also referred to as \xe2\x80\x9cthe First LOD\xe2\x80\x9d) to ensure that they effectively manage as \xe2\x80\x9cRisk Owners\xe2\x80\x9d the Regulatory and AML risks inherent in or arising from the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. The Second LOD consists of \'Risk Stewards\' who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the First LOD. The Compliance function is a Risk Steward for several non-financial risks in accordance with HSBC Group\xe2\x80\x99s risk framework.
  • The role will involve regular interaction with stakeholders in first and second line of defence.
The Opportunity:

This role can be based out of Bangalore or Hyderabad.

The role holder will have a particular focus on supporting the execution. Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist in identifying Financial Crime Compliance risks and performing compliance risk assessments. Including HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s Fraud Policy. Adherence to timelines for delivery of results
  • Mitigate money laundering and fraud risk via efficient and effective review of financial crime issues. Enhanced framework and streamline process for identify/filtering/reporting compliance breach risk
  • Monitor regulatory change developments and potential impact of regulatory change, including performing gap analysis and providing compliance advisory to stakeholders
  • Providing accurate, relevant and timely information to relevant Risk Management Committees for management\xe2\x80\x99s decision making
  • Review and support on lending fraud risk assessments. Controls are assessed for effectiveness in ensuring that policies are being complied with.
  • Assist in providing training to create compliance awareness including on thematic issues
  • Reviews and assist in carrying out the effective deployment NFRO program
  • Provide Fraud Risk advice on compliance matters
  • Review new product approvals and any new business initiatives
  • Assist in providing oversight and support over Fraud Monitoring systems; i.e. SAS EFM.
  • Provide summary and technology knowledge and analytics for Fraud initiatives and thematic reviews.
  • Provide support and oversight (2LoD) challenge to fraud related projects in LoB\xe2\x80\x99s and functions.
  • Collaborate with 1LoD teams on evolving controls.
  • All current and emerging risks are appropriately advised and monitored.
  • Ensure fraud related projects are appropriately challenged and reviewed.
  • Internal and external events are reviewed and challenged appropriately
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do
  • The responsibilites of the CoE team will be to assist the in-country AML team leads with various activities inluding the list given below:
  • Liaise/engage with relevant stakeholder as well as other Global Business and Functions to provide expertise and support on all Compliance related matters
  • Ensure the appropriate timely and relevant risk information is provided to management, in-country management and Compliance management in Singapore and region
  • Provide advice to business & support groups on financial crime queries
  • Provide timely management reporting on financial crime statistics & issue.
  • Evidence of an engaged and positive team culture. Close working relationships maintained with other Compliance peers. Active attendance and participation in team meetings and discussions.
  • Sharing of knowledge and providing guidance to other Compliance team members.
  • Contact maintained with key business and functional heads to update them on Fraud Risk Developments and customer surveys
  • Demonstration of Group Values in all behaviors
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the roleRole requires 7+ years of Financial Crime related experience
  • Have good working knowledge of the HSBC Fraud Framework and Group Policy
  • Have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Possess strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Able to work both as a team player as well as independently
What additional skills will be good to have?
  • Proficient knowledge of AML/CTF issues across the financial services industry
Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above. Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritized. The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
