Job Description



The successful candidate will be part of the DRA team with the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct and publish research on defaults, impairments, rating accuracy, ratings volatility and other measures of rating and credit performance
  • Lead junior analysts in default research and quantitative projects
  • Be a source of research ideas and help to set the research agenda for the team
  • Utilize MATLAB, Excel, and SQL to query and manipulate large datasets to conduct statistical analysis
  • Oversee ad-hoc quantitative projects and respond to internal as well as external data requests

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a quantitative field, such as Engineering, Financial Engineering, Econometrics, Economics, Statistics, or Finance
  • 4+ years of work experience. Conducting and publishing research related to the financial markets and/or experience in credit risk is a plus
  • Experience in managing teams is a plus
  • Hands on experience with programming languages such as MATLAB, SQL, R and/or Python
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage own workflow/priorities and meet deadlines


The role is within the Default & Ratings Analytics team, which publishes sector- and region-specific research on Moody\xe2\x80\x99s ratings performance and emerging credit trends. DRA also produces critical regulatory reports and provides statistics to rating teams internally to assist in improving ratings quality. The team is part of the Credit Strategy and Standards group which promotes rating quality, consistency and transparency in Moody\xe2\x80\x99s Investors Service credit analysis globally.
