1. Role Overview

An Assistant Professor is typically an entry-level or early-career academic position within higher education. In the context of Occupational Therapy, they are involved in teaching, research, and service related to this healthcare discipline.

2. Responsibilities

• Teaching:
• Delivering lectures, seminars, and lab sessions to students pursuing degrees in Occupational Therapy .
• Designing and evaluating course curricula that cover topics like:
• Anatomy, physiology, and psychology.
• Rehabilitation techniques and therapeutic interventions.
• Client-centered care and evidence-based practice.
• Research:
• Conducting studies to advance knowledge in OT.
• Publishing findings in academic journals.
• Securing grants for research projects.
• Clinical Supervision:
• Guiding students during their clinical placements in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or community settings.
• Ensuring students understand ethical and professional standards.
• Advising:
• Mentoring students on academic and career development.
• Supporting students preparing for certifications or licensure exams.
• Service:
• Participating in departmental and university committees.
• Engaging with professional organizations and community outreach.

3. Qualifications

• A doctorate (e.g., PhD or OTD) in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
• Professional certification as an Occupational Therapist (e.g., OTR/L in the U.S.).
• Experience in clinical practice and teaching.
