The Assistant Professor in Interior Design will be responsible for delivering high-quality education, fostering a dynamic learning environment, and contributing to the academic and creative growth of students. The role involves teaching undergraduate/graduate courses, mentoring students, and engaging in departmental and institutional activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
• Deliver lectures, workshops, and practical studio sessions on core and elective subjects in interior design, such as:
• Design Principles
• Space Planning
• Sustainable Design
• Digital Modelling and Rendering (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit)
• Materials and Finishes
• History of Interior Design
• Develop and update course syllabi, lesson plans, and learning materials to align with industry standards and institutional objectives.
• Evaluate and grade students' work, including projects, assignments, and examinations.
• Supervise student projects, internships, and thesis work.
Research and Creative Work:
• Engage in academic research, creative projects, or professional practice relevant to interior design.
• Publish research papers, case studies, or creative works in reputable journals, conferences, or exhibitions.
Student Mentorship and Guidance:
• Provide academic and career guidance to students.
• Assist students in portfolio development and preparation for internships and placements.
Departmental and Institutional Engagement:
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, and institutional committees.
• Contribute to accreditation processes and quality assurance initiatives.
• Organize and participate in extracurricular activities, workshops, and exhibitions to enhance student exposure.
• Network with industry professionals and establish collaborations for guest lectures, internships, and projects.
Professional Development:
• Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques in interior design.
• Attend workshops, conferences, and training programs to enhance teaching and subject expertise.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Qualifications:
• A Bachelor Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field (essential).
• Master in Interior Design or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
• Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching or industry experience in interior design or a related field.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and other visualization tools.
Skills:
• Strong knowledge of interior design principles, methods, and materials.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
