ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary Position Objectives Assistant Manager - Transport & DistributionKey responsibilities

  • To ensure the effective utilization of vehicles daily.
  • To monitor repair vehicles and coordinate with the maintenance team to get them back on the road ASAP.
  • To coordinate with the service provider for driver engagement and ensure all drivers of running vehicles are engaged.
  • To ensure vehicles have round trip loads and avoid dry runs.
  • To monitor and take necessary steps to reduce TAT (Turnaround Time).
  • To focus on increasing the number of trips for all our vehicles.
  • To equally distribute all movement job orders on a FIFO basis.
  • To allocate vehicles for respective work to ensure continuous engagement.
  • To coordinate with customers for timely empty pick-ups and laden container movements.
  • To ensure export shipments are moved well within the cut-off time.
  • To hand over Shipping Bill and EIR to the customer as soon as export shipments are offloaded at terminals.
  • To coordinate with all internal stakeholders and ensure service deliveries meet agreed terms.
  • To reposition destuffed empties within free time to avoid detention due to delay in repositioning.
  • To regularly provide empty repo feedback to customers.
  • To coordinate with plot operators and shipping lines for timely movement of their exports & imports empties to terminals.
  • To ensure bills are generated on time for shipping lines as per agreed terms.
  • To engage market vehicles whenever required for moving shipping line empties.
  • To coordinate with transport supervisors on their day-to-day performances and ensure all movements are captured in OTM (Operational Transport Management).
  • To scrutinize and certify all transport vendor bills when engaged from the market.
  • To coordinate with RTO & Police officials for smooth transportation en route and to handle breakdowns or accidents by liaising with the concerned parties to release the vehicle immediately from the spot.
  • Subsequently, coordinate with Insurance and our legal team for further processes.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • Graduation
  • At least 10-12 year experience in related areas supply chain transport.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Excellent and updated knowledge about labour laws.
