Job Title: Assistant Logistics Safety Manager

JOB Purpose

Reporting to the Head Ultralogitics, the Assistant Logistics Safety Manager will have responsibility for delivering Safety, Health and Environmental improvement activities, and providing competent advice and coaching to drive World Class Logistics and Road Safety Initiatives .

The work with operations teams and Logistics Transporter to drive implementation of an ambitious programme of Zero Fatality under Road Safety. The successful candidate will display competent interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees from all levels and functions of the business.

Candidate must be actively involved in SHE activation in logistics, WCL compliance in logistics, supporting risk assessment, continual improvement activities, delivering training and providing support to the operational teams.

You must also be able to lead projects and manage multiple workstreams in a demanding environment. You will be comfortable with making interventions to discuss safe and unsafe behaviours, and challenging accepted practice in an appropriate and positive manner.

Role Responsibilities:

Lead the implementation, monitoring, and audit under the World Class Logistics Framework Clauses of Safety. Drive implementation the Road Safety Safety agenda for Logistics network. Help embed culture of Road safety, strategy and standards within the internal and external network through effective leadership, communication and engagement. Lead and contribute to risk assessments; provide advice and support implementation of appropriate control measures, ensure all assessments are reviewed and updated. Lead 100% coverage of Defensive driver training and Driver counselling through rollout of Driver Management Centres across HUL sites. Develop relevant and customised training materials and performance measurement matrices for effectiveness of Driver Management Centres. Drive timely incident reporting and suitably thorough root cause investigation providing leadership and advice. Ensure timely closure of actions and sharing of learning. Ensure effective processes are in place for management of improvement activities arising from sources including risk assessment, incidents, investigations and audits. Provide suitable information, training and coaching to operational teams using all appropriate methods of communication. Perform regular transporter audits, help ensure that audit actions are assigned to relevant stakeholders and completed. Support the Safety Pillar within the logistics in accordance with World Class Logistics methodologies and demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.

Essential:

University degree in Science or Engineering with 3-4 years of relevant industrial experience. Knowledge of practically applying safety, health, and environmental legislative requirements in a logistics. Experience in reporting and investigating incidents and developing action plans Experience carrying out risk assessments, reviewing existing controls and recommending improvements, preferably in a multidisciplinary team. Experience in driving improvement programmes in logistics, preferably FMCG Manufacturing.

Preferred

Engineering experience would be a distinctive advantage. Experience of delivering training and coaching to employees. Relevant experience in driving Road Safety in Logistics operations. Demonstrable experience in prioritisation of issues and working both independently and with others to ensure they are addressed with appropriate urgency. Experience of the World Class Logistics (WCL) environment.
