Job Description

Linens
o On a daily basis, hospitals utilize large quantity of linens-such as bedding, gowns and scrubs. Hospital housekeepers are responsible for gathering, washing of extremely soiled linen, folding, inspecting, and mending all of the linens used by their facility.
Locations
o Hospital housekeepers are responsible for maintaining the appearance and sanitation of all areas in a hospital, including wards, Cots & Beds, diagnostic testing rooms, waiting areas, staff areas, examination rooms, and operating rooms.
Patient Rooms
o In areas where patients stay, hospital housekeepers are responsible for supplying fresh linens and keeping the bathrooms, floors and other surfaces clean and neat. When a patient is discharged or move to another room, it falls upon housekeepers to disinfect the rooms with specialized cleaning process and maintain the room cleanly.
Garbage and Waste
o Hospital housekeepers empty waste containers and receptacles and trash from all areas of the hospital and put label on the collected thrash with department, date and time of collection. Once it is collected, housekeepers are responsible for disposing of trash into a common facility, recyclables and medical waste according to hospital policies and procedures
Maintenance
o The housekeeping department is responsible to inform the maintenance department about faulty devices, pipes or machines and for scheduling routine maintenance of repairs.
Educational Requirements
No formal education is required to work as a housekeeper. The successful candidate must have knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products. He must also understand how to properly clean sensitive materials such as wood without damaging them. Job Responsibilities for a Housekeeping Staff 1. A housekeeper cleans all rooms to which she is charged or assigned. The housekeeper dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums and scrubs. He or she maintains all cleaning supplies and equipment, also make sure to execute to concerned department during emergencies.
2. Housekeeping Jobs: Cleaning includes sweeping and mopping all over the Hospital, general passage and common area, non-clinical area, external premises. The task includes other then sweeping and mopping, emptying dustbins, removal of cobwebs, Door glass window Glasses cleaning doors and windows, shelves, grills, water dispenser, Pneumatic containers, refrigerator, chamber cleaning etc. They also refill potable water for patients, visitors and staff. The Housekeepers are responsible for maintaining all rest rooms of the Hospital clean, neat and dry. The housekeepers also refill soap solutions, tissue, napkins, Water , etc. The housekeepers are the workers responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of hospital facilities in total.
3. Qualitative : Requirements Jupiter images/Banana Stock/Getty Images To be a successful housekeeper, they should have knowledge of housekeeping material and the housekeeping work done. A housekeeper must be able to stand for long periods of time. Work around chemical cleaning solutions; and must know how to properly use cleaning equipment such as a broom, manual mop, dry mop, wet mop, duster, vacuum cleaner. A housekeeper must be self-motivated and able to complete his/her tasks with little or no supervision.

4. Need to be flexible to work in hospital during absentism as per the supervisors guidance.
