Oasis Systems has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Engineer to Supervise the safe operation and maintenance of the U.S. Army Vessel (USAV) Worthy. Are you available to sail October 30th 2023 - January 14th 2024 LOCATION: Kwajalein, Marshall Islands EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Two (2) years\' experience as an engineer (Graduation from a US State or Federal Maritime Academy may be substituted for the 2-year experience). EDUCATION : Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Degree from a certified maritime vocational school or Maritime Academy preferred Certifications And Tools Shall hold an open ocean U.S Coast Guard credential as Assistant Engineer of motor vessels powered by engines of not less than 2500 HP, or as an USCG Designated Duty Engineer (Unrestricted) with a minimum of 3 years experience in those classes. Formal education as a Marine Engineer will be considered in lieu of three years experience SECURITY CLEARANCE: Required to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants JOB STATUS: Part Time Surge Crew Description The Assistant Engineer works with the Chief Engineer to ensure the vessel is maintained in a seaworthy, clean and safe manner. The Assistant Engineer maintains all shipboard systems including, but not limited to propulsion, electrical, electronic, fuel, hydraulic, sanitation and potable water systems. The Asst. Engineer is the officer in charge of an engineering watch and assists in the supervision of the engineering department. Supervises, operates, and maintains the engineering plant on the U.S. Army Vessel (USAV) Worthy. Supervises, operates and maintains the assigned vessel\'s propulsion and auxiliary engineering systems. Determines parts, supplies, and material requirements for job accomplishment. Supervises engineering watch members. Oversees the USAV Worthy preventive maintenance program and coordinates for required USAG-KA Marine repair shop support. Accurately inputs O&M data, as well as, projects long range maintenance issues. Ensures the vessel maintains ABS Load-line and U.S. Army standards. Remains on standby/recall status to the vessel during dockside periods, as needed. Participates in the vessel\'s off site OCCM (On-Condition Cyclic Maintenance) Dry-docking on a three-year basis Accountable For Conducting on-the-job training of personal, as may be required. Accurately and properly maintaining all required engineering logs and records. Using hand and power tools commonly used in the maritime industry. Enforcing safety regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures. Ensuring all personnel are wearing the appropriate PPE for the assigned task. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE : The ideal candidate must have: Two (2) years\' experience as an engineer. Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment used on an ocean-going towing vessel. Required to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). Must have a valid U.S. Passport.
