Job Summary:

The Assistant Buyer will play a vital role in supporting the Category Buyer in managing the

procurement process for a specific category of products. This position involves assisting in

market research, vendor management, and inventory analysis to ensure the successful

execution of buying strategies that align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Category Buyer in selecting and sourcing products that meet quality, cost,

and delivery criteria.

• Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor pricing, and potential new

suppliers within the assigned category.

• Monitor inventory levels and analyze sales data to support replenishment and

markdown strategies.

• Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, facilitating communication regarding

order status and resolving any discrepancies.

• Prepare reports and presentations on purchasing activities, sales performance, and

market trends for the Category Buyer.

• Assist in negotiating pricing and terms with vendors to secure the best deals for the

company.

• Participate in product selection meetings and contribute insights based on market

analysis and customer feedback.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to purchasing and

inventory management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, or a related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or a related role is desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with

team members and vendors.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple

tasks simultaneously.

• A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
