Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled AS400 Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of AS400 systems and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications on the AS400 platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that systems meet business needs and requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain applications on the AS400 platform using RPG, COBOL, CL, and other relevant programming languages.

Analyze and troubleshoot existing AS400 applications to resolve issues and improve performance.

Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical solutions that meet business needs.

Create and maintain technical documentation related to software design, coding, testing, and deployment.

Perform unit testing and system testing to ensure quality of deliverables.

Assist in system upgrades, migrations, and integrations with other software applications or platforms.

Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices in software development.

Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance code quality.

Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to the AS400 environment.

Provide support and guidance to junior developers as needed.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Proven experience as an AS400 Developer or similar role, with a minimum of [X] years of experience.

Proficiency in RPGIV, CL, and COBOL programming languages.

Experience with DB2/400 database management.

Familiarity with tools such as IBM Rational Developer for i (RDi) is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience with Agile methodologies is a plus.


Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of Java or web technologies is a plus.

Familiarity with other IBM i tools or utilities.

Understanding of ITIL and project management principles.
