Position Overview: The Architect Project Manager (APM) is responsible for overseeing architectural projects from conception to completion. This role requires a blend of architectural expertise, project management skills, and leadership abilities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Planning and Development:
• Develop and define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments.
• Design Management:
• Lead the design process, including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
• Ensure design compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other consultants.
• Project Coordination and Execution:
• Manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion.
• Oversee the work of the project team, including architects, designers, and support staff.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary.
• Client and Stakeholder Management:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing concerns.
• Facilitate client meetings and presentations.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Quality Control and Compliance:
• Implement quality control procedures to ensure high standards of design and construction.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the project.
• Financial Management:
• Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.
• Prepare cost estimates and track project expenditures.
• Review and approve invoices and change orders.
• Risk Management:
• Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Manage project documentation, including contracts, permits, and reports.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
• Professional architectural license.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in architectural design and project management.
• Proficiency in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction practices.
• Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desired Skills:
• LEED accreditation or other sustainability certifications.
• Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling).
• Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
• Experience in a specific sector (e.g., commercial, residential, healthcare, education) may be preferred depending on the employer.
Work Environment:
• Office-based role with regular site visits.
• May require occasional travel to client locations or project sites.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
