About the Projects:National Centre for Human Settlement & Environment (NCHSE) with support from ITC is implementing Climate Smart Village (CSV) Programme promoting climate resilient agricultural practices in villages of Alirajpur, Ashok Nagar, Badwani, Chhatarpur, Chhindwara, Damoh, Dewas, Dhar, Indore, Jhabua, Khandwa, Khargone, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Rajgarah, Ratlam, Sagar, Sehore, Tikamgarh, Ujjain and Vidisha districts of Madhya Pradesh.The project promotes Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) with climate smart village (CSV) concept, which include water smart, weather smart, nutrient smart, seed smart, carbon smart & knowledge smart. This approach helps the farmers in taking actions needed to transform and reorient agricultural systems to effectively support development and ensure food security in a changing climate. CSA aims to tackle three main objectives: sustainably increasing agricultural productivity and incomes; adapting and building resilience to climate change; and reducing and/or removing greenhouse gas emissions, where possible. Programme promotes following actions:\xc2\xb7 Integrated water management to improve water use efficiency;\xc2\xb7 Use of compost and discourage use of chemicals in agriculture\xc2\xb7 Regeneration, conservation and optimum utilization of natural resources in the project area for enhancing livelihood of watershed community.\xc2\xb7 Ecological restoration of common land through increasing vegetative covers for drought proofing.\xc2\xb7 Providing livelihood opportunities for the poor; and facilitating employment opportunities and economic avenues, particularly for women and marginal families.\xc2\xb7 Creating and strengthening farmers institutions for bringing value addition in the present farming system.\xc2\xb7Capacity building of officials (REO, SADO, ATM, BTM (ATMA) and other Block officers) of Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Department and Animal Husbandry Department.\xc2\xb7 Capacity building of farmers in implementation of CSA practices through Farmers Field School (FFS) model and demonstration of actions in their fields,\xc2\xb7 Convergence with Government schemes, especially that of Agriculture departmentNCHSE requires qualified and experienced Agriculturist (preferably specialization in Agronomy/ Horticulture) to assist implementation of project in 21 districts of Madhya Pradesh.Responsibilities and DutiesAgriculturist will be responsible for the following:
Programme implementation in coordination with ITC, Government line department and local beneficiaries,
organize field demonstration and conduct training programmes on CSA & CSV Practices through FFS
Facilitate convergence with Government schemes to benefit the farmers
monitoring of progress against the target set for the Project area.
Reporting progress in desired format and schedule to NCHSE & ITC
Required Qualification: Post-graduate in Agriculture (Agronomy/Horticulture).
