Job Overview

The Nursery Assistant Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring high standards of plant care, inventory management, and customer service. They will oversee a team of nursery staff, assist in maintaining plant health and growth, and contribute to the overall efficiency of nursery operations. This role requires hands-on involvement, agricultural knowledge, and leadership skills to ensure smooth functioning and optimal productivity.

Roles & Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Assist the Nursery Manager in daily planning and execution of nursery operations.
• Oversee planting, potting, watering, pruning, fertilizing, and pest management.
• Monitor plant health and environmental conditions in the nursery.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and irrigation systems.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, train, and support nursery staff and seasonal workers.
• Delegate tasks and ensure timely completion of nursery activities.
• Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork and safety.

Inventory and Stock Management

• Monitor plant stock levels and identify replenishment needs.
• Maintain accurate records of plants, supplies, and equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors for ordering materials like seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.

Customer Service and Sales

• Assist customers in selecting plants, providing expert advice on plant care and maintenance.
• Support retail sales activities, including pricing, labeling, and display of plants.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Implement pest control and disease prevention measures.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the nursery premises.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Background

• A degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Botany, or a related field.

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in nursery, horticulture, or agricultural operations.
• Previous supervisory or team management experience is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of plant propagation, pest management, and irrigation systems.
• Familiarity with agricultural tools, fertilizers, and pesticides.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., inventory software, MS Office).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?15,000.00 - ?25,000.00 per month
