The Agricultural Technician will assist in the day-to-day operations of the farm, including crop management, equipment maintenance, and data collection. This role involves working closely with the farm manager and other team members to ensure the smooth running of agricultural activities.Key Responsibilities:Field Work:
Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.
Monitor crop growth and development, and report any issues such as pests or diseases.
Soil and Crop Management:
Conduct soil sampling and testing to assess soil health and nutrient levels.
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other inputs as directed to optimize crop production.
Irrigation Management:
Set up and maintain irrigation systems.
Monitor soil moisture levels and adjust irrigation schedules as needed.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Operate farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Collect data on crop yields, soil conditions, and other key metrics.
Assist in analyzing data to improve farming practices and productivity.
Research Support:
Support field trials and experiments by setting up plots, applying treatments, and collecting data.
Assist researchers and agronomists with various tasks as needed.
General Farm Duties:
Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Perform other farm-related tasks as required.Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
Knowledge of crop production, soil science, and pest management.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment.
Basic understanding of irrigation systems and practices.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Good physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with sustainable and organic farming practices.
Experience with precision agriculture tools and techniques.
Knowledge of local crops and growing conditions.
