Job Description

• PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The primary responsibility of the Farm Head is to manage a team of ~ 50 farm employees at different locations in Nashik, to monitor and successfully manage organic farm practices at SNPP. This role will also include budgeting, cost management, staff management and other administrative work such as vehicle management, office administration, water harvesting, water supply management, maintaining relationships with external bodies, etc.

KEY RESULT AREAS

• Prepare Annual Budget and monitor costing as per the budget.
• Prepare and monitor weekly, monthly execution plan.
• Responsible for plot wise costing and profitability.
• Lead team of farm employees to ensure of continuity of organic produce.
• Monitoring vehicle operations, maintenance and cost.
• Training to Farm Supervisors and workers for new agricultural technologies.
• Provide on time farm raw materials and adequate resources to farm supervisor.
• Manage irrigation, rainwater harvesting and water supply in the farms.

• Handle silage and silo pits at farms.
• Planning and monitor fodder distribution and logistics to control cost.
• Responsible for providing cattle feed as per the demand of cattle house (Gotha).
• Self-upgradation about new Agriculture technology.
• Raw material price negotiation.
• Coordinate with Trustees and HR Department for employee related information.

PRINCIPAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze the root cause for low yield and take appropriate actions.
• Recommending changes to the current agriculture plan.
• Prepare an annual budget and take approval from the Trustee.
• Prepare a raw materials and resources plan for every season.
• Prepare a half yearly project report.
• Prepare agricultural and water harvesting plan along with budget for the entire year.
• Monitor cost of execution and take appropriate action to control cost.
• Proactively monitor progress as per implantation plan.
• Coordinate with Trustees on a daily basis and submit weekly reports to Trustee on activities, plans, challenges, and required support.
• Responsible for raw material purchase negotiation.
• Responsible for follow up of requisition sent to purchase department.
• Responsible for safety and security of staff and entire premises.
• Monitor daily execution plan and take appropriate action as and when required.
• Montor silage requirements, including handling of silo pits, drip irrigation and rain guns for irrigation purposes.
• Monitor security activities and take corrective actions as and when required.
• Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understands expectations.
• Completely responsible to feed the fodder to respective cattle house as per their demand.
• Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members.
• Ensure raw materials, resources are provided to Farm Supervisors
• Taking appropriate decisions regarding planting, sowing and harvesting based on climatical conditions.
• Ensuring that all equipment, tools, and machinery are well-maintained, serviced, and repaired.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors, buyers, and regulators to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Submitting monthly MIS - Plot wise consumption and cost
• Conducting research and development to improve crop yields, product quality, and profitability.
• Performing administrative tasks such as record-keeping, inventory management, and payroll processing.
• Participate in price negotiation for vehicle maintenance / repairing and raw material purchases.
• Ensure record keeping at each farm.
• Collect employee and farm data, and share reports as required by Trustees.
• Plan, monitor and implement employee performance appraisal on a set schedule.
• Participate in appraisal system, and coach employees accordingly.
• Resolve Employee Grievances.

PERSON DETAILS.

• Age : 35 - 40years
• Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in agriculture / Organic Agriculture / Agri-business / Farm Management, or equivalent discipline.
• Experience : Minimum of 10+ years of organic farm management.

SKILLS :

• Additional courses / diplomas in organic agriculture, business management or administration are recommended.
• Proven ability to manage people with extensive experience in organic farming-related field.
• Knowledge of sustainable and organic farming practices and agriculture software if any.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting method and local government laws.
• A proven ability to handle moorghas (silage), silo-pits, rain guns, and drip irrigation practices will be an added advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills with high attention to details.
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel and Email communication.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in Marathi and English
• The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
• Diligent and proactive planner with good communication & interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work long hours as required.
• Good report writing and presentation skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?25,000.00 - ?32,000.00 per month
