The LCCI group in India houses a MIH team that works closely with the MIH team in Indianapolis in enabling the delivery of Lilly\xe2\x80\x99s portfolio.:Are you passionate about engaging in advanced Engineering Modelling & Simulation, guiding the development of mechanical systems through the insights gained from modelling, assessing complex physical phenomena, and translating them into mathematical representations? Have you worked in Global settings and led engineering teams to the successful completion of project goals? Do you possess a solid foundational knowledge of mechanical systems, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Engineering, and Numerical methods? Are you proficient in using Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, and COMSOL? If so, then a role as a Computational Modelling Engineer (CAE) at LCCI is waiting for you.Key Responsibilities:

  • The Delivery Devices and Connected Solutions (DDCS) Division within the MIH team is an integrated drug development and delivery organization which spans the life cycle from candidate selection to submission and post-approval for both small molecules and biologics (peptides and antibodies).
  • This position is in the Computational Engineering Team in MIH-DDCS. You will have the responsibility of developing mathematical models that can be used to predict the behavior of components used in primary packaging and medical devices. This will involve a fundamental understanding of mechanical systems, the materials that are used to create them, and the mechanics involved in modelling their functionality.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a history of strong technical depth, a broad base of modelling skills, scientific leadership, and a willingness to promote a collaborative, team-based approach to problem solving. The candidate will have a combination of deep fundamental mathematical/science/engineering knowledge and strong mathematical modelling skills and have the proven ability to apply these skills to reaction systems and unit operations.
  • Individually, you will be involved with the following activities:
  • Leading the Computational modeling projects from the technical and project management perspective
  • Successfully achieving the project objectives by partnering with external vendors
  • Contribute to research projects and programs focused on the FEA modelling of drug delivery systems.
  • Work may be conducted independently or more frequently, as part of a product development team consisting of other engineers, scientists, and technicians
  • Developing and validating the mathematical models using CAE software and Programming tools
Key Objectives/Deliverables:You will contribute to the development of pharmaceutical products with following responsibilities:
  • Work with engineers to ensure the proper testing is being performed to obtain correct inputs for finite element analysis.
  • Clearly communicate relevant product and process risks based upon numerical modelling results to ensure risks are relayed to MIH-DDCS management and appropriate business partners.
  • Enhance Lilly\xe2\x80\x99s professional image and competitive advantage through patents, presentations, publications, and professional activities.
  • Interact with third parties as needed for external modelling and component design, when needed.
  • Stays abreast of relevant new and current technologies and capabilities.
  • Ensures individual and departmental compliance with the laws, regulations, guidelines, procedures, and practices governing drug research and development, including the departmental and corporate standard operating, good manufacturing, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure that people and their environment are safe and that company policies concerning safety are followed.
Educational Requirements:
  • PhD in Mechanical/Biomedical or equivalent Engineering with at least 5-10 years of relevant industrial experience.
Experience Requirements:
  • Experienced in working with Global teams sitting in US/Europe, preferably as team/group leader.
  • Demonstrated experience in working as Team/Group Leader
  • Proficiency with using CAE tools such as ABAQUS, ANSYS-Mechanical. Hyperworks & Hypermesh for Meshing/Preprocessing and Solid-Works/Creo for CAD.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and form dynamic relationships with a wide range of groups.
  • General interpersonal and communication skills; mentoring, feedback, training, and cultivating an environment for learning and open/honest communication.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Sound fundamental understanding of Engineering Mechanics (Solid Mechanics), Numerical Methods (FEM/FVM).
  • Basic understanding of fluid mechanics and CFD.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Understanding of materials testing and material properties of materials such as plastic, metal & elastomers
  • Preferably from Medical Device Industry & experience in Medical Device Design and Development
  • Experience with Mathcad and MATLAB is desired
  • Good knowledge of HPC and cloud solutions for simulation will be highly preferred
  • Preferrable to have Programming experience: Python/MATLAB
  • Familiarity with the ongoing incorporation of AI/ML in CAE industry
