Summary Lab Specialist/ Technician performs designated tasks and specific duties within the Material process engineering Labs (Mechanical Testing Lab) as per the Lab process, procedures, and lab in-charge instructions. Mainly he/she must adhere to all the lab safety protocols, without compromising on safety. This Individual roles & responsibilities include making the Test rig/ Lab equipment available for testing, maintaining the lab equipment, and acquiring quality test data during the lab testing. Essential Responsibilities: Ensure safe operations of Lab equipment with regulatory requirements by conducting periodic checks. Provides inputs site management and /or EHS Manager on any safety issues. Ensure Optimum MTL Lab inventories for efficient Lab operation without any break downs for mechanical testing machines such as servo hydraulic UTMs and static creep frames. Communicate with vendors and other external sources to complete various lab tasks. Perform troubleshooting in lab equipment\'s like MTS UTMs, ATS Creep frames, high temperature furnaces and measuring instruments. Perform maintenance of all the lab equipment and utilities (furnaces, Compressors, chillers, instruments, UPS, etc .) Operate MTS and ATS servo hydraulic and creep machines and furnaces along with Eurotherm controllers. Perform dimensional checks on mechanical test samples to be used for tensile, fatigue and creep and maintain records Perform calibration of all test equipment such as load cell, extensometer, LVDT, furnace, etc. Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering preferably in Mechanical/ Electrical/Materials from an accredited college or university and minimum 4years of experience in relevant field. Operation and troubleshooting of servo hydraulic UTMs such as MTS or Instron and ATS frames used for creep frames. Loading of tensile, fatigue and creep samples. Familiarity with ASTM standards for mechanical testing and calibration. Operation of high temperature furnaces Should possess knowledge of industrial safety processes for fire, chemical, electrical, compressed gases and LOTO. Candidate should be familiar with IT communication tools including outlook, excel, word, ppt and familiar with engineering drawing. Should be ready for shift operations. Desired Characteristics: Prior experience in tensile, fatigue and creep testing. Understanding of quality system for testing such as ISO 17025. Demonstrated initiative in proactively identifying future potential safety risks and suggesting appropriate countermeasures. Prior demonstrated proficiency with testing and lean focus during Lab activities Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply applicable EHS regulations as they apply to the plant Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and other basic IT systems Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, in both written and verbal form, to a wide variety of stakeholders including but not limited to supervision, engineering, and shop floor associates Note: To comply with US immigration and other legal requirements, it is necessary to specify the minimum number of years\' experience required for any role based within the USA.
