Job Summary:
The Admission Counselor will play a critical role in attracting, guiding, and assisting prospective students through the admissions process. This role involves managing communications, providing guidance on application requirements, and representing the institution at various recruitment events. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, a passion for higher education, and the ability to connect with diverse individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Student Recruitment:
• Actively recruit and engage prospective students by attending college fairs, high school visits, and virtual events.
• Develop and maintain relationships with guidance counselors, prospective students, and families to ensure a strong applicant pool.
2. Counseling and Advising:
• Provide one-on-one counseling to prospective students and their families on the admissions process, academic programs, scholarships, and financial aid.
• Guide students through the application process, answering questions about admissions requirements, deadlines, and procedures.
3. Application Management:
• Review applications, evaluate academic records, and assist in the selection process in collaboration with the admissions committee.
• Follow up with applicants to ensure timely completion of applications and supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of prospective students in the admissions database.
4. Event Planning and Participation:
• Organize and conduct information sessions, open houses, campus tours, and orientation programs.
• Assist in coordinating special events to enhance prospective students' understanding of the institution.
5. Marketing and Outreach:
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, social media content, and communications that showcase the institution's offerings.
• Contribute to email campaigns, newsletters, and other communications to keep prospective students informed.
6. Reporting and Data Analysis:
• Track and report recruitment activities, application statistics, and enrollment data.
• Analyze trends and provide insights to optimize recruitment and admissions strategies.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., education, marketing, communication).
• Experience: Previous experience in admissions, counseling, recruitment, or a related field is preferred.
• Skills:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM software, and virtual communication tools.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Comfortable with public speaking and presentations.
Preferred Competencies:
• Knowledge of admissions processes and higher education trends.
• Experience with social media marketing or other digital recruitment tools.
• Familiarity with student financial aid and scholarship programs.
Work Conditions:
• Ability to travel locally and, occasionally, to regional recruitment events.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
