We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and detail-oriented Admission Counselor to join our Admissions team. The Admission Counselor will play a crucial role in recruiting, evaluating, and guiding prospective students through the admission process. The ideal candidate will be passionate about higher education, have excellent communication skills, and be committed to providing outstanding service to students and their families.
Key Responsibilities
• Recruitment & Outreach : Represent the institution at college fairs, school visits, and other recruitment events, both in person and virtually. Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, high school counselors, and community partners.
• Admissions Process : Review and evaluate student applications, academic records, and supporting documents. Assist in determining admission eligibility and provide recommendations based on institutional guidelines.
• Counseling & Guidance : Provide one-on-one counseling to prospective students and their families, answering questions related to the application process, academic programs, financial aid, and campus life.
• Application Management : Maintain a caseload of applicants and manage all communication through the application process, ensuring timely follow-up and support.
• Events & Programming : Coordinate and host information sessions, campus tours, and other recruitment-related events to engage prospective students.
• Data Entry & Reporting : Maintain accurate records in the admissions database, track recruitment efforts, and provide reports to senior leadership as requested.
• Collaboration : Work closely with other departments (financial aid, academic advising, student services) to ensure a seamless transition for admitted students and provide consistent messaging throughout the recruitment process.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in admissions, higher education, customer service, or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse student populations, parents, and school counselors.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with student information systems or CRM tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in higher education admissions or recruitment.
• Familiarity with admissions software, such as Slate, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
• Knowledge of financial aid processes and procedures.
