Job Summary: The role involves commissioning new authors/content for academic and clinical products as per the commissioning strategy of the company including using insights from data, understanding future trends, managing existing authorship, and contributing to the development of a robust publishing program (print as well as digital formats).
Roles & Responsibilities
Develop a new author base (academic and clinical), manage the existing author list to develop new book opportunities, and assist in defining and executing the content strategy of the digital products.
To manage the book proposal submission process which includes understanding market needs, identifying potential proposals and actively commissioning the same, getting blind reviews, working on the P&L, and presenting proposals to the editorial board for approval.
Collaboration with publishing (print and digital), editorial, sales, marketing, and pharma teams
Participate in developing publishing strategy, including digital and ancillary product components(content on web).
Explore market needs for digital products.
Identify gap areas (in digital and print products)
Research competitive titles and suggest marketing opportunities for acquired titles.
Keep abreast with the market conditions, trends, and needs through interaction with faculties, clinicians, industry professionals, and the sales team.
Commission authors and brief them on the prospects of publishing content on the web and look for opportunities of creating digital products, and leverage new and existing content.
Develop a pool of KOLs from clinical specialties.
Travel to tradeshows and conferences. Be the acquisitions face of Thieme Publishing at all attended events, and visit institutes for scouting potential authors.
Create advisory boards to provide insights and act as product champions
Required Background & skills:
Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree or other scientific or clinical degrees. Candidates with UG/PG degrees in Medical, Dental, Nursing, and Pharmacy will be given preference.
Minimum 5 years of prior experience working within the edtech or publishing industry, ideally within the STM field
Strong interest in understanding user problems and market needs
Proven ability to build a network
Interest in digital as well as traditional education methods
Experience in international collaboration is not essential but is a plus
Desirable/basic Knowledge of existing digital products, available in the market(being used by students and clinicians)
