Job Summary:

The Accounts Assistant will support the accounting department in handling financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with the preparation of financial reports. This role involves managing daily bookkeeping tasks, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and assisting in tax filings. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and attention to detail to ensure financial data accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bookkeeping and Data Entry:
• Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process in accounting software.
• Maintain and update financial records such as ledgers, journals, and financial statements.
• Process invoices, receipts, and payments, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable:
• Manage accounts payable by reviewing, verifying, and processing vendor bills and payments.
• Handle accounts receivable by preparing customer invoices and following up on outstanding payments.
• Reconcile discrepancies between accounts, ledgers, and external financial statements.
• Bank Reconciliation:
• Reconcile bank accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy in cash balances and financial reports.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies identified during reconciliation.
• Financial Reporting:
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
• Support the finance team in preparing budget forecasts and variance reports.
• Tax and Compliance Support:
• Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns (GST, TDS, etc.) and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines.
• Ensure that all financial transactions comply with applicable tax laws and regulations.
• Maintain proper documentation for tax filings and audits.
• Payroll Assistance:
• Support the payroll process by preparing salary slips, maintaining employee records, and ensuring accuracy in statutory deductions like PF, ESI, TDS, etc.
• Assist in calculating and processing employee reimbursements and deductions.
• General Administrative Support:
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
• Manage and organize financial documents, invoices, and records for easy access and retrieval.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or similar) and MS Office (Excel, Word).
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and tax regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Familiarity with GST, TDS, and other statutory filings is an advantage.
• Strong numerical skills and the ability to work independently.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position based in an office environment.
• May require additional hours during audits, month-end or year-end closing, and tax filing periods.
