Shift Timing: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM ISTSummary:Smith and Howard is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing Accounting and Advisory team in India. As part of our Accounting Services team, you will help clients navigate and resolve complex accounting issues while supporting their accounting and payroll tax needs. This position offers an opportunity for professional growth, skill development, and meaningful contributions within a flourishing team.Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the main liaison between Smith+Howard staff and clients, receiving assignments, and communicating needs.
  • Team Management: Assign work to team members based on their skills, knowledge, and commitment to the task at hand. Ensure that all assignments are completed in a timely manner and meet high-quality standards.
  • Review & Supervision: Oversee the work of team members, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation. Provide guidance and feedback to enhance team performance.
  • Training & Development: Facilitate training sessions, discussions, and mentorship programs to improve team members understanding of accounting and tax-related matters.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain General Ledger accounts, profit centers, and cost centers. Perform daily transaction accounting and post adjusting journal entries.
  • Financial Statements & Reporting: Prepare financial statements for both independent and consolidating entities. Conduct flux analysis and perform other review procedures to ensure account balances are accurate and appropriately reconciled.
  • Work Paper Preparation: Prepare detailed work papers and reconciliations to support account balances and adjustments, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
  • Payroll Tax Compliance: Prepare and review payroll tax returns, including relevant forms for India such as TDS, GST, Provident Fund, and other statutory compliance forms. Solve payroll tax-related issues and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Collaboration & Critical Thinking: Work closely with the team to solve challenging issues in a collaborative environment, demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Licensing/Certification: Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or currently progressing towards a CPA or CA certification is a plus.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, and payroll tax compliance within India, preferably with exposure to international accounting practices.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, and Bill.com. Familiarity with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Time Management: Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, managing priorities effectively.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while taking responsibility for individual tasks and assignments.
  • Location: This role requires candidates to work from the office in India.
