Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and empathetic Academic Counsellor to guide students in achieving their academic and career goals. The role involves providing support in course selection, addressing academic concerns, helping with career planning, and enhancing the overall educational experience of students.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Academic Guidance:



Assist students in selecting suitable courses and academic programs based on their interests, strengths, and career goals.

Help students understand curriculum requirements, academic policies, and graduation plans.

Monitor academic progress and provide interventions for students facing academic challenges.

2. Student Support:



Counsel students dealing with academic pressure, performance anxiety, or personal issues affecting studies.

Provide resources or referrals for additional academic help (e.g., tutoring, mentoring).

Guide students in balancing academics with extracurricular or personal commitments.

3. Career and Higher Education Advising:



Assist students in exploring career paths related to their field of study.

Support in planning for higher education opportunities, including university selection and application processes.

4. Administrative & Outreach Activities:



Maintain accurate student records and counselling documentation.

Conduct orientation programs, academic workshops, and career seminars.

Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to improve student support services.

5. Communication & Reporting:



Act as a liaison between students, parents (if applicable), and academic staff.

Prepare regular reports on student progress, issues, and counselling outcomes.

Qualifications:



Required:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or related field.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with empathy.

Preferred:



Prior experience in academic advising or student counselling.

Knowledge of education systems, career trends, and academic planning tools.

Certification in counselling (if applicable).

Skills:



Active listening and problem-solving skills.

Empathy and emotional intelligence.

Time management and organizational skills.

Familiarity with academic management systems (LMS, ERP, etc.).
