About IPSD-M Power Generation
Within the Industrial Power Systems Division, the Genset packaging Operations team manage packaging of generator sets across 8 global locations. Genset packaging Operations includes Assembly operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Environmental Health + Safety. We deliver operations excellence across all functional areas, packaging 55,000 gensets annually, delivering superior safety, quality, velocity, and cost results to our business partners.
We now have an opportunity to recruit this key role within the Global Operations Manufacturing team , reporting to the Global Technical Services Manager .
Job Purpose
Leads, manages, and supports projects related to process and product improvements using Lean, Six Sigma and project management methodologies to achieve business goals.
What you will do:
• Independently lead process improvement projects across global facilities , co-ordinating global cross-functional teams .
• Employing Six Sigma methodology to identify improvement opportunities , implement and control process improvements to meet business goals and objectives.
• Identify improvement opportunities in the areas of Operational efficiency , Network Optimisation , Manufacturing Engineering and Quality , including supporting systems and tools .
• Develop detailed business cases , communicate to senior leadership and stakeholders on the opportunities, recommendations and implementation plan .
• In addition to technical skills, the 6 Sigma Black Belt needs to demonstrate strong team leadership competencies.
• Although the requirements above describe most of the responsibilities, due to the breadth of issues that arise on projects, it is sometimes expected to take on other responsibilities outside of this job description.
What Skills you will have:
Six Sigma Methodology: Knowledge of the concepts of six sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology; ability to use the methodology to improve the design, manufacturing or assembly processes and control the improvements by eliminating root causes.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Analyzes business priorities for selecting potential critical metrics.
• Uses tools (e.g. trend charts, Pareto charts, sigma conversion chart) to measure historical performance.
• Researches important causes that have an impact on quality and customer satisfaction with the use of statistical tools.
• Resolves routine problems in a cost effective manner.
• Reports deviances from process improvements.
Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.
Level Working Knowledge
• Defines the critical workflow for executing key processes.
• Identifies process problems that limit performance.
• Implements methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes.
• Focuses on the most significant problems to maximize efficiency gains.
• Surfaces systemic problems to be addressed at the organizational level.
Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.
• Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects.
• Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.
• Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.
• Produces standard project status reports.
Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

• Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
• Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.
Required Criteria
• A college degree in an appropriate engineering or technical discipline (e.g., Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).
• Certified 6 Sigma Black Belt with extensive project management experience,
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Requires considerable experience in a high-volume production environment gained through previous staff and / or supervisory assignments.
• Minimum 8-10 years of appropriate experience,
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Great team player and experience working with cross-functional teams
• Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems
• Solid product knowledge and good business understanding
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office, with experience in 3D CAD preferrable.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time throughout the year
Desired Criteria
• Experience of SAP or another MRP/ERP system.
• Experience evaluating PFMEA data to proactively identify process improvement opportunities within the value streams.
• Experience leading RCCA investigations and implementing solutions.
• Experience of the introduction of new products and complex engineering changes.
• Experience in inventory management and control, purchasing, parts distribution and/or supply chain/logistics.
• Experience in supply chain optimization modelling tools
