Job Summary:
The Exchange Online Protection and Perimeter Services Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the organization's email and perimeter security services. This role involves ensuring the integrity, availability, and protection of email communications and network perimeters, primarily through the use of Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and other perimeter security tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Email Security Management:
• Configure and manage Exchange Online Protection (EOP) to ensure secure and reliable email delivery.
• Implement and maintain policies for spam filtering, phishing protection, and malware prevention.
• Monitor email traffic to identify and mitigate threats and vulnerabilities.
Perimeter Security:
• Manage and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other network security appliances.
• Implement and enforce perimeter security policies and procedures.
• Regularly update and patch perimeter security systems to protect against emerging threats.
Monitoring and Incident Response:
• Monitor security alerts and logs to detect and respond to security incidents.
• Conduct root cause analysis for security incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with the IT security team to manage incident response efforts.
Policy Development and Compliance:
• Develop and enforce security policies and best practices for email and perimeter security.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
User Training and Support:
• Provide training and support to end-users on email security best practices.
• Assist in the development of security awareness programs related to email and perimeter security.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain detailed documentation of security configurations, incidents, and changes.
• Prepare and present regular reports on the status of email and perimeter security to management.
• Document and update incident response procedures and playbooks.
Qualifications:
• Education:
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
+ Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)) are a plus.
• Experience:
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in email security, network security, or a related field.
+ Hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and other email security solutions.
+ Experience with firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other perimeter security tools.
• Skills:
+ Strong understanding of email security protocols (e.g., SMTP, DKIM, SPF, DMARC).
+ Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, and other network security technologies.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
