We have been a front runner in Urban Water reforms in India through our Nagpur 24x7 water project which is a first full city-wide continuous water supply project in India. It includes a population of 2.5 million, 0.3 million connections with a 25 year BOT project which is under implementation for more than two years. The project has been awarded the prestigious Water deal of year for the year 2012-13 by Global Water Intelligence at Seville, Spain and also One of the top 10 PPP projects in south & east Asia & Pacific Region in urban water segment by the International Finance Corporation. VIL spotted this opportunity way back in 2000 and strategically decided to stay focused on BOT projects. It made a humble start with the development of 8.3 Km Bypass road on BOT basis, which was one of the first BOT concessions awarded at that time. Those were tough times for the industry with stiff resistance from key stakeholders i.e. the commuters for paying toll for using the road.
