SOS Childrens Villages Of India SOS Childrens villages India is an an independent non-governmental social development organization:At SOS Childrens Villages of India we are committed to the welfare of orphaned and abandoned children - often throughout the whole of their childhood - and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against child abandonment and social neglect. The first SOS Childrens Village was founded by Hermann Gmeiner, an Austrian philanthropist , in 1949 in Imst, Austria. Since then, the organization has been active and expanding throughout the world. At present, SOS Childrens Villages is active in over 133 countries with over 500 SOS Childrens Villages and 400 SOS Youth Facilities striving for the welfare of the children in need of care and protection.
